FREE Pure Sounds Resource
Pure sounds in the Australian vernacular for you to share!
These sounds are key to teaching a child to read e.g. cat uses the pure sounds c-a-t and not letter names.
Be sure to leave out the ‘schwa’ though!
E.g. saying ‘suh’ and ‘tuh’ instead of the pure sound ‘s’ and ‘t’ as in the word ‘sat’ – would sound like ‘suhatuh’ and will be confusing.
Great fun can be had playing with these sounds even before a child starts to read. Try it by sounding out two and three letter words to the children and see if they can guess the word! Lots of giggles can be had along the way!
